Dear friends,
Summary of our meeting with 2 leaders last week (cat types Chinese very slowly):
1.Renovation of sheep club ("club") and purchase of PLK: As club could not raise enough funds for these 2 items, and the actual cost of renovation was more than the budgeted amount due to inflation and other factors, these 2 items still has a deficit of a total of $2.4 million. But club has used its internal funds to pay much of the deficit, and has been paying bank instalment every month for the purchase of PLK. (sounded to cat that the finance of the club is alright.)
2.I Club and A Club were registered as 2 separate companies. I has 3 directors and A has 5.
2.1 Club embraces the vision of I but it does not support I financially, apart from contributing $120,000 startup cost. The donation of $5.5 million from someone was specified for the work of I. I raises its own funds and operates independantly (such as staff recruitment) from church. It is responsible for nations' work and cooperate with other bodies in other countires.
2.2 Club embraces the vision of A and supports it financially. A registered as a non-profit company because it would be easier to send mission-sheeps to other countries that way. A does local and overseas mission work. Club allocates funds from Pool to pay for the salaries and adminsitration expenses of A. But if the funds from the Pool is not enough to pay the salaries of the staff, the staff would receive discounted salaries. (Question asked: what if funds from Pool cannot pay staff full salaries for a long period of time? Answer: club will review the situation.) Evangel Committee will suggest to allocate an amount of funds to A and the suggestion will be forwarded to Finance Committee for approval. A attached to club and not to any individual. The recruitment of staff was approved by the Board of Directors of A. Some of the staff were ex-workers of club.
3. It has been agreed by leaders that club would only "baptize" by water sprinkling members' parents and children who are hospitalized due to manpower shortage. For members' friends/other relatives who are hospitalized and who want to be baptise please seek help from chaplain of the hospital concerned.
4. With regard to the remark of shepherd about going to other 1000 + clubs, leaders said other members had mentioned this to leaders before, and when leaders asked shepherd, he forgot he had said so (cat said, but the shepherd's message was recorded.) Leaders said that some other members had said the remark of shepherd was offensive. (cat asked, would leaders remind shepherd?) Leaders said they had told shepherd. (cat said, the remark would not encourage unity, it would divide sheeps.) Leaders listened. At last, leaders said our questions would not be discussed in the annual meeting because they were not "tei on" (proposal). If we have any questions we could write to leader X and the questions would be copied to shepherd.
Cat will attend the annual meeting on 27.6. See you there.
